Jay Chaudhry, Executive Chairman & Co-Founder currently serves as executive chairman and co-founder of AirDefense, and is a seasoned entrepreneur and experienced technology executive with a track record of success. Chaudhry's background includes nearly 25 years of sales, marketing and engineering experience from leading companies such as IBM, NCR and Unisys and the successful launch of several technology companies.
Chaudhry has proven himself to be an innovator and trendsetter by spearheading numerous initiatives to improve the overall posture of the security industry. In 1997 Chaudhry founded SecureIT, the first pure-play Internet security services company that experienced exponential revenue growth. As a self-funded company, SecureIT was acquired by VeriSign in July 1998, where Chaudhry served as vice president and general manager of the Security Services Division. Over the years, Chaudhry has been a founder, primary investor and/or chairman and CEO of several successful start-up technology companies. Chaudhry founded CipherTrust in March 2000, creating the industry’s first email gateway security appliance leading to the successful merger with Secure Computing to create the leader in enterprise gateway security. In 2002, he launched AirDefense, which pioneered the wireless LAN intrusion detection and prevention market and today serves more than 600 blue chip clients. In 2000, he launched CoreHarbor, the first ASP for e-procurement solutions, which was acquired by USi, the leading managed/hosted application provider. In 1999, he launched Air2Web, a developer of mobile Internet platform mobile marketing applications for enterprises and connects more than 500 carriers in 200 countries. Prior to that, he held various sales and marketing management positions at NCR, IBM, Unisys and IQ Software.
Chaudhry is considered an industry thought leader in cyber-security and has been honored for his entrepreneurial leadership and management success by numerous organizations. Michael J. Potts, President and CEO brings to AirDefense more than 20 years of hands-on operational experience in the technology industry. He is responsible for accelerating the strategic growth of AirDefense and furthering its recognition as the leader in enterprise wireless security.
He most recently served as an advisor and investor with several technology and venture firms. Previously, Potts served as CEO of Clickfox, an analytic solutions provider. From 1995 to 2003, Potts served in key leadership roles at Jacada (NASDAQ: JCDA), a software integration company. He was appointed President in 1998, one year prior to Jacada’s successful initial public offering. He was responsible for global field operations and business development as well as Jacada’s investor relations. From 1995 to 1998, Potts served as head of the company’s US operations and lead the company’s efforts to secure more than 1,000 customers. Prior to Jacada, Potts served in several sales and management roles at MSA, a financial application software company subsequently acquired by Dun and Bradstreet (NYSE: DNB).
He has served on the executive board of the American Israel Chamber of Commerce, the American Electronics Association (AEA) and is currently on the board of directors of AirDefense and Terma Labs. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1984 with a BBA in Marketing.
Tom Savini, Chief Financial Officer brings over 20 years of banking, financial and operational management experience to AirDefense. As CFO, Tom is responsible for the company’s financial, accounting and administrative activities. Prior to AirDefense, he was Vice President of Finance at Movaz Networks, Inc. where he oversaw the growth of Movaz from inception to its successful sale in August 2006. Prior to Movaz, Tom held senior banking positions at Silicon Valley Bank, Sumitomo Bank and Bank of America where he provided corporate and investment banking services to start-up, small cap and middle market clients. Tom earned a BBA degree from the University of Georgia, an MBA from Mercer University and additionally holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Dave Gagne, Vice President, Sales and Business Development brings 23 years of sales management experience in
semiconductors and electronic components to AirDefense. He most
recently served as Vice President of Sales and Business Development for Engim.
Previous positions include Vice President of Sales at T-Networks, Tioga Technologies
and Director of Sales at both Actel and Sharp.
his BS in General Science (majoring in Optical Engineering, Physics,
Computer Science and Mathematics) from the University of Rochester.
Dr. Amit Sinha, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer specializes in wireless communications and network security. Prior to joining AirDefense, he served as Vice President and Chief Technologist at Engim, a company he co-founded. At Engim he designed 802.11 modems and was responsible for the core technology portfolio of the company. Prior to Engim, he held various research positions at MIT, Hewlett Packard Laboratories, Intel Corporation and Texas Instruments. Amit is an accomplished researcher with more than 25 refereed papers published in technical journals and conferences. In addition, he is a contributing author to three published books. He is also the author of 15 patents dealing with different inventions in 802.11 infrastructure and wireless security.
Amit received his S.M. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, and his B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India where he was awarded the President of India Gold Medal for graduating summa cum laude.
Nightingale, Vice President, Engineering specializes
in networking, wireless infrastructure and software engineering.
Prior to joining AirDefense, he served as Director of Software
Engineering at Engim Inc. where he architected and implemented
a full multi-channel 802.11 MAC responsible for layer two security,
quality of service, power-save functionality and roaming capabilities.
He lead a team developing embedded and application software products
including network infrastructure, spectrum analysis, 802.11
monitoring and manufacturing applications. Prior to Engim he
held a variety of research, development and teaching positions
at MIT’s Laboratory for Computer Science,
MIT’s Media Lab., Motorola, and ArsDigita Inc. His research
has focused on layer two and three networking protocols including
congestion control mechanisms and media access control (MAC).
Todd received his S.B. and MEng. degrees in Electrical Engineering
and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
W. David Thomas, Vice President, Product Strategy brings over 10 years of information security experience to AirDefense serving as the Vice President of Product Strategy. In this role, Thomas is responsible for ensuring that AirDefense is properly positioned as the market leader in wireless security by driving the company’s overall product direction.
During his 4-year tenure at AirDefense, Thomas has helped the company grow from a pre-revenue startup to a successful small technology company readily addressing the needs of the largest Fortune 500 customers. He has worked closely with many high-profile organizations such as IBM, CSC, the Department of Defense, and the National Security Agency to develop security strategies that enable the widespread and safe use of wireless technology. His commentary on wireless security has been featured on CNN and in the Wall Street Journal.
Prior to joining AirDefense, Thomas was the Director of Security Services for VeriSign. During his tenure, he was responsible for managing the department’s profit goals, developing security service offerings, and supporting strategic sales efforts. Early in his career with VeriSign, he trained hundreds of students on Internet security tactics and consulted around the world. Before joining VeriSign, Thomas worked for the Department of Defense developing applications to aid in the structural integrity of dams, aircraft carriers, and secure facilities. Earlier in his career, he owned and ran a systems integration consulting company.
Thomas became a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) in 1999 and is also a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
Richard Rushing, Chief Security Officer is a recognized IT security expert with almost 20 years
experience working with computers and networks as a system analyst,
network administrator, engineer, consultant and architect. Richard
has participated in several corporate security councils setting
standards and policies for entire organizations. Richard was
most recently Chief Technical Officer of VeriSign's Network Security
Services division where he identified and developed products
and services to maintain VeriSign's focus on leading-edge security
solutions. He was VeriSign's key player in the delivery of complex
security consulting and architecture solutions to numerous Fortune
In 1997 Richard teamed up with Jay Chaudhry and Jay Johnson
to form SecureIT, a leading provider of security services to
the IT industry that was acquired by VeriSign in 1998. Prior
to SecureIT, Richard worked as a security consultant for the
Technology Management Services group at GE Capital.
Richard has taught many classes and workshops

Network Security, Operating System security, VPN's and Security
protocols, and Web Security, Auditing Firewalls, and Auditing
A much-in-demand speaker on information security, Richard has

Networld+Interop, Computer Security Institute, RSA Conference,
SANS Security Conferences, WebSec, InfoSec, CyberTerrorism, and
several industry or application specific conferences and workshops
around the world.
