The very air-borne nature of wireless LANs (WLANs) opens them to intruders and attacks that can come from any direction. WLAN traffic travels over radio waves that cannot be constrained by the walls of a building. While employees might enjoy working on their laptops from a grassy spot outside the building, intruders and would-be hackers can potentially access the network from the parking lot or across the street.

This two-day, hands-on course will provide you with a thorough understanding of WLAN security risks. More importantly, you will learn about layered approaches to security that you can adopt to secure a WLAN.
WLAN Security Bootcamp teaches you how to detect reconnaissance activities of intruders and impending attacks. It covers a range of tools and solutions to actively defend against intruders and attacks. Experts will introduce and explain real-life case studies from companies in multiple industries. More than half of the training is spent in our lab conducting hands-on exercises.

What You Will Learn:
Classroom presentations provide an overall understanding of WLAN security issues and lay the foundation for hands-on lab exercises. Lab exercises are carefully selected to provide practical, in-depth experience to understand the latest tools, techniques and leading-edge security products. You will learn:

How intruders get to your corporate network using WLAN as a launch pad
How to identify and prevent WLAN security threats
About real-life hacking techniques
Pros and cons of various WLAN security implementations
How to prevent Denial-of-Service attacks and Man-in-the-Middle attacks on your WLAN
How to thwart identity-thefts by intruders
How to enforce a WLAN policy 24x7
How to fortify your security with the latest technology and best practices

Who Should Attend:
Decision makers for security and networking, such as directors or managers of networking, Chief Security Officers, and directors or managers of information security.
Designers, architects, implementers and administrators of WLANs and security.
Consultants and integrators for security and IT services.

Who Teaches the Course:
This is not a typical training course taught by academic instructors. This course is taught by security practitioners who have extensive experience in securing WLANs. Our instructors have extensive experience in conducting vulnerability assessment and penetration testing, as well as deploying leading security solutions for Fortune 1000 corporations and government agencies.

Our instructors get right to the heart of the matter with lab exercises of WLAN security implementation pitfalls, real-world case studies of deployment and defense, and practical information on what you can do to secure your WLAN now!

Featured Lab Tools, Software & Hardware:
During the class, we simulate a corporate network and WLAN environment to portray real-world scenarios. We use access points and bridges from leading vendors including Cisco, Orinoco and LinkSys. Learn to secure WLANs with Cisco VPN/LEAP technologies and Aironet 350 access points. Gain hands-on experience using wireless sniffers and scanners, such as NetStumbler, Kismet and AirSnort. Learn how cracking tools such as AirSnort and WEPcrack exploit security vulnerabilities and how you can defend against them.

What will you receive:
On completion of the course, you will receive a free 802.11 Access point and a CD with hacking tools that we use in the class.

Prerequisites:
Attendees should have a good understanding of networking, especially TCP/IP. Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, security policies and risk assessment will be desirable.

Course Fee: $1,495

Cancellation Policy

*Participants will receive their access point after completion of class and receipt of payment.
