AirDefense Teams With Nortel To Bring Industry-Best Wireless Security Solution To Global 1,000 Corporations And Government Entities Worldwide
Integrating Nortel's WLAN Solution with AirDefense’s Award-Winning Wireless Intrusion Detection and Prevention System Brings Secure, Robust and Cost-Effective Solution to Market
Atlanta, GA- February 26, 2007 - AirDefense, Inc., the innovator that launched the wireless LAN security market, today announced the integration of its industry leading wireless IPS technology with the Nortel WLAN 2300 series. This integration enables Nortel wireless access points (AP’s) to also act as AirDefense wireless sensors, enabling corporations to seamlessly and cost effectively add AirDefense security to their Nortel wireless network.
As part of the integration, Nortel customers can follow a simple conversion process and turn any number of Nortel AP’s into security sensors, either on a full-time basis, a scheduled basis or on an as-needed basis. This simplifies networks by mitigating the requirement to install and manage alternate sensing hardware when AirDefense is deployed with Nortel WLAN 2300 products.
AirDefense develops the only wireless intrusion prevention solution today that enables organizations to comply with regulatory requirements and provides industry specific reports that prove compliance with HIPAA, Payment Card Industry (PCI), Sarbanes-Oxley, FISMA and the Department of Defense’s 8100.2 policy. AirDefense is also the only solution that has completed NIAP Common Criteria validation, a requirement under the Department of Defense 8100.2 specification.
In addition to the technical integration, the joint go-to-market plan enables Nortel customers to procure AirDefense products directly from Nortel. The two companies will leverage Nortel’s steep Enterprise presence and capabilities to enhance an already robust Nortel product portfolio that boasts wired, wireless and security networking solutions.
“Our partnership with Nortel truly leverages best of breed technology and worldwide distribution expertise,” said Mike Potts, president and CEO of AirDefense. “We are delighted to be working together as our customers around the world increasingly rely on wireless networks and depend on us to keep them secure.”
“As a global leader in communications and networking, it is important for Nortel to provide best in class security solutions to our customers,” said Wes Durow, vice president of marketing, Enterprise, Nortel. “AirDefense is a leader in the wireless security industry and the tight integration with the WLAN 2300 system will allow customers to easily add AirDefense protection for their wireless deployments.”
The combined solution has already been deployed and is now available from Nortel as well as from Nortel’s value-added resellers and integrators.
