AirDefense Named ‘Market Leader’ in Wireless Intrusion Detection and Prevention Overlay Systems by Frost & Sullivan

ATLANTA – May 8, 2008AirDefense, the innovator and market leader in anywhere, anytime wireless security, today announced global growth consulting company Frost & Sullivan named the company recipient of the 2008 Frost & Sullivan Market Leadership Award for global wireless intrusion detection and prevention (WIDPS) overlay systems. This is the second consecutive year AirDefense has been awarded the honor in Frost & Sullivan’s independent review of the WIDPS industry.

Frost & Sullivan recognized AirDefense as the ‘market leader’ because of a superior strategy for penetrating the WIDPS industry, valuable business partnerships, a broad enterprise product portfolio; including add-on modules such as the first software-only Spectrum Analysis feature in AirDefense Enterprise 7.3 and a strong focus on vertical markets, which has enabled AirDefense to penetrate the market effectively.

“AirDefense has displayed unrivaled leadership in the wireless intrusion detection and prevention industry since its inception in 2001 and today we honor the company by naming it ‘market leader’ for the second consecutive year,” said Martha Vazquez, Frost & Sullivan research analyst. “In addition to having the WIDPS’s industry’s most robust enterprise product portfolio, AirDefense has established the broadest partnerships with industry leading companies such as Motorola, IBM, Nortel and CSC and its channel is growing rapidly to meet the demand for its industry-best product suite.”

In February 2008, AirDefense received the only ‘Best Buy’ rating from SC Magazine amongst wireless intrusion prevention software companies in an independent product review. Also, the Technology Association of Georgia named AirDefense one of the Top 40 Most Innovative Technology companies for 2008. AirDefense also received the only ‘Readers Choice Award’ amongst wireless intrusion prevention companies in 2007 from Information Security ™ magazine.

In addition to Spectrum Analysis, AirDefense Enterprise 7.3 features Advanced Forensics, a new Centralized Management Console and new appliance models. In November 2007, AirDefense completed a groundbreaking study on wireless security vulnerabilities in the retail industry by studying more than 3,000 retail locations in the United States and parts of Europe. Also, with seven granted, two allowed and eighteen patents pending, AirDefense owns dominant patents in the area of wireless intrusion prevention and wireless troubleshooting.

“Frost & Sullivan has recognized and sent a clear signal once again that AirDefense is the unrivaled leader in the WIDPS industry. We continue to consistently innovate and offer the most advanced technology suite of products for retailers, government agencies, financial services companies, healthcare organizations, transportation companies and the Fortune 500,” said Mike Potts, president and CEO, AirDefense. “In 2001, AirDefense was at the forefront of the WIDPS market. Today’s award only reaffirms the commitment our talented employees have made to ensure that wireless communication networks become an even safer and more reliable solution for commerce.”
