AirDefense Secures Common Criteria Certification for its Award Winning Wireless Intrusion Prevention System
ATLANTA – June 10, 2008 – AirDefense, the innovator and market leader in anywhere, anytime wireless security, today announced that its flagship product ‘AirDefense Enterprise’ has received Common Criteria Certification to Evaluation Assurance Level 2 (EAL2) from the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP). This most recent certification was for AirDefense Enterprise 7.2. AirDefense was the first wireless intrusion prevention vendor to file for, and receive EAL2 certification in 2005.
Today, AirDefense has a lengthy list of government customers and it is the dominant provider of wireless intrusion prevention systems to this industry. Customers include, but are not limited to: the Department of Defense, Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Energy, Department of Labor, U.S. Army, U.S. Marines and Federal Bureau of Investigation. In addition, globally, AirDefense has more than 800 blue chip customers, healthcare institutions, retailers and financial services companies using its technology.
“Since 2002 AirDefense has been the wireless security solution of choice for a vast array of government and defense agencies. NIAP certification provides our defense customers with the confidence needed to deploy our solutions in some of the most security sensitive facilities in the world,” said Mike Potts, CEO, AirDefense. “Today, AirDefense remains the choice for the majority of government agencies and we look forward to providing them with our best-in-class solutions for years to come.”
Earlier this year, AirDefense was named the 2008 Frost & Sullivan ‘Market Leader’ for global wireless intrusion detection and prevention (WIDPS) systems. This is the second consecutive year AirDefense received the honor. In February 2008, AirDefense received the only ‘Best Buy’ rating from SC Magazine amongst wireless intrusion prevention software companies in an independent product review. Also, the Technology Association of Georgia named AirDefense one of the Top 40 Most Innovative Technology companies for 2008. AirDefense also received the only ‘Readers Choice Award’ amongst wireless intrusion prevention companies in 2007 from Information Security ™ magazine. In addition, AirDefense owns all dominant patents in the area of wireless intrusion prevention and wireless troubleshooting.
NIAP was established by The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Security Agency (NSA) to evaluate IT product conformance to international standards. The program, officially known as the NIAP Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme for IT Security (CCEVS) is a partnership between the public and private sectors. This program is being implemented to help consumer’s select commercial off-the-shelf information technology (IT) products that meet their security requirements and to help manufacturers of those products gain acceptance in the global marketplace.
