AirDefense to Deliver Wireless Security
for Enterprises
Atlanta, GA - June 21, 2004 - AirDefense today
announced that it will deliver new solutions for protecting enterprises
from the threat of security breaches in their wireless LAN networks
(WLAN). It will also work with IBM to tap into its global
delivery capability, systems integration skills and business transformation
services for a full service offering.
AirDefense provides round the clock monitoring solutions to help
ensure security and performance of enterprises WLAN infrastructure.
These solutions allow the enterprise, or managed security service
provider, to define policies for security and performance, and
then correlate the detected service traffic against these policies,
alarming on detected threats. Deep forensic analysis of the traffic
using different security signatures and statistics provides a
broad view of all devices, their connections, and relationships
and behaviors within the air space, thereby delivering a real-time
and historical view on network performance. AirDefense's centralized
architecture delivers a solution that scales to deliver small
to large enterprise solutions
As part of IBM's Managed Security Services, Wireless Intrusion
Detection offering, IBM reviews a client's WLAN topology as well
as the physical layout of the building or office space and assists
with proper deployment of wireless intrusion detection sensors.
IBM has the capability to provide this support remotely or at
the customer location. Once the sensors are in place around the
wireless environment, IBM monitors in real time for wireless
intrusions with personnel skilled in Internet security and
intrusion detection from its Security Operations Centers. IBM
also provides ongoing management, administration, updates, reporting
and tuning of the wireless security solution.
Anil Khatod, AirDefense's president and CEO, said, "Working
with IBM will complement AirDefense's technical leadership and
the architectural approach as we deliver solutions for Fortune
1000 customers. We are excited about the prospect of now distributing
our technology with IBM on a global scale, and the services excellence
that these global customers can experience via IBM. IBM will bring
additional economic benefits for AirDefense and confirms our vision
of using advanced technology to improve infrastructure and create
value."
