AirDefense Provides Wireless Security
Component for
CSC's Managed Security Services Offering
Atlanta - October 26, 2004 - AirDefense, the leader in
24x7 wireless local area network (WLAN) security monitoring, today
announced it will provide a new WLAN security component for Computer
Sciences Corporation's (NYSE: CSC) Managed Security Services offering.
The new component will help protect CSC customer enterprises from
the threat of security breaches.
With the new component, CSC's Managed Security Services offering
provides wireless detection, analysis, protection and correction
of potential risks and threats to the enterprise. Customers also
have access to a broad set of services including system installation
and integration, site surveys, policy definition and vulnerability
assessments.
"For many of our managed services customers, these types
of solutions are the key to managing security for business-critical
wireless assets," said Chris Steinbach vice president of
CSC's Global Security Solutions organization. "We are pleased
to work with AirDefense to offer solutions to hundreds of government
agencies and Fortune 500 companies that depend on CSC."
By the end of 2004, more than half of all business mobile PCs
will be able to connect to WLANs, according to findings from industry
analyst firm Gartner, Inc. announced at the Gartner IT Security
Summit 2004. Furthermore, Gartner estimates 70 percent of successful
WLAN attacks will be caused by the misconfiguration of WLAN access
points (APs) and client software. Today, wireless networks are
becoming more pervasive due to their flexibility and inexpensive
deployment costs. With more mobile employees and contractors deploying
APs and creating unofficial networks, organizations are beginning
to realize the need for wireless security.
"CSC's business expertise spans a range of industries, solutions
and geographies," said Anil Khatod, president and CEO of
AirDefense. "As the market becomes aware of the benefits
provided by wireless networking, and begins deploying these wireless
services on an enterprise scale, this offering is uniquely positioned
to improve the enterprise infrastructure by providing the services
and solutions globally to protect those critical networks."
The AirDefense security and monitoring system is based on patent-pending
technology that incorporates distributed sensors with a server
appliance. The remote sensors monitor all WLAN activities 24x7
and communicate with the appliance, which correlates and analyzes
the data to provide scalable, centralized management of all WLAN
deployments by providing rogue detection, policy enforcement,
intrusion protection and health monitoring. The AirDefense solution
has been deployed in more than 250 distributed enterprise networks
worldwide.
