Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Selects AirDefense and Simplex Data Solutions To Secure Its Local Area Networks (LANs)

Intrusion Prevention/Detection Solutions to Protect FAA LANs

Atlanta - November 27, 2006 - AirDefense, the innovator and market leader in Anywhere, Anytime Wireless Security, today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has chosen the company’s products to secure their LANs. A contract has been awarded to Simplex Data Solutions, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) located in Leesburg, Virginia to conduct site surveys, install, and configure several hundred AirDefense sensors throughout the United States.

The FAA’s networks are required to meet the highest levels of security in the federal government. AirDefense’s solution has obtained the stringent Common Criteria (EAL2) certification which is critical for the federal government to improve controls over wireless networks that was outlined in GAO’s GAO-05-383 report. Simplex Data provides a turnkey solution for the entire project including site surveys, certification and accreditation, and ultimate installation of the equipment at FAA facilities.

“Together, AirDefense and Simplex Data Solutions will provide the FAA with a powerful solution capable of detecting and preventing wireless attacks across multiple sites in the United States,” said Michael Potts, CEO of AirDefense. “The biggest challenge facing any government agency or corporation today is keeping mission critical documents secure as workforces take advantage of the many benefits of wireless connectivity.”

AirDefense provides a complete suite of solutions that secure wireless networks and protect the extended mobile enterprise against all threats and attacks. The FAA joins many high-security government agencies, including the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security and Department of Transportation, already relying on AirDefense’s enterprise suite of intrusion detection/prevention products.

“Simplex Data Solutions expertise in understanding the government’s stringent security requirements coupled with AirDefense’s industry-best intrusion detection/prevention suite of products, will equip the FAA with the tools necessary to prevent future denial of service attacks across the country,” said Jeffrey Widom, president of Simplex Data Solutions. “The FAA will have a fully certified and accredited enterprise-wide wireless security solution able to be managed and monitored from a centralized location that will provide the FAA with the most effective way to ensure compliance with agency policy.”
